Creating an app with electron.js

A recent enquiry from a potential client led me to investigate how I could use my web design skills (HTML, CSS & Javascript) to create an app that would run on a Windows desktop without any associated web site.

I settled on Electron.js as a way of achieving the desired result. By embedding Chromium and Node.js into its binary, Electron allows you to maintain one JavaScript codebase and create cross-platform apps that work on Windows, macOS, and Linux with no native development experience required. A few weeks down the line and we had one very happy client.
